Commercial Decking Solutions

Q-Grip Decking Smoking Area

Hoppings Softwood Products provides a variety of versatile products for creating comfortable and safe outdoor areas for commercial landscape applications. In commercial applications products may have to conform to the requirements of U.K. Building Regulations and in certain situations the only way to achieve this is to get a product performance tested to meet the requirements of a relevant British Standard (BS).

Within the Q-Deck range of decking products there are three with performance rated credentials. These are Q-Grip® slip resistant decking, Twinson® composite decking and Q-Deck Plus® Strength Rated External Timber Balustrade System.

Commercial Opportunities

For public houses, hotels and restaurants the need to provide safe outdoor smoking areas is very important for maintaining continuity of trade. Due to the smoking ban, workplaces and many public amenity buildings need to now provide a safe outdoor area for people. In many cases this can be an improvement if well thought out both in terms of design but most importantly performance. A carefully considered commercial decking area can not only provide extra space for extra people/customers it can add to the buildings appeal and potential, by improving both the environment and profits.

Duty of care

Commercial property owners have a duty of care to their customers and certain health and safety issues should not be ignored. Poorly maintained decking can become slippery in wet conditions and in-adequate or poorly specified balustrading can fail under high loadings.

Duty of care - Anti Slip decking solution

Q-Grip York Decking Q-Grip Decking LogoQ-Grip® from Q-Deck provides two slip resistant decking boards with enhanced grip characteristics. These decking boards are ideal for slip sensitive areas on domestic decks such as steps, outdoor smoking areas and public places such as schools, parks, pub’’s and restaurants. Both are tested to BS7976 parts 1 & 2 and provide a 'low potential for slip' under classifications set out by the UK Slip Resistant Group. The enhanced grip is provided by injection applied strips of coarse aggregate that sit proud of the surface of the decking board.

new Product Duty of care - Retro-Fit slip resistant decking solution

Q-Deck Pre-Grip Decking Deckboards Q-Grip Decking LogoNew Q-Deck® Pre-Grip decking boards have the deepest and widest grooves of all our boards and their positioning creates a very regular ‘chunky’ look. When used in conjunction with new Q-Grip® strip, Q-Deck® Pre-Grip allows deck builders to strategically incorporate slip resistant areas within a traditional deck scheme with ease. Areas of decks that tend to require enhanced grip are walkways or boardwalks, borders or edges and steps or stairs.

Twinson hollow core composite decking Likewise our new hollow core composite decking Twinson has been tested to the same BS and provides a 'low potential for slip' under classifications set out by the UK Slip Resistant Group. This product does not have enhanced grip inserts like Q-Grip, it is the fact that it is less absorbent, less prone to algae growth, dries quickly and is easy to clean that provides the slip resistant assurance.
